The Queensland Branch of the Australian Institute of Physics joined more than 30 organisations at QUT's Faculty of Science Careers Expo last week, connecting with students across physics, data science, mathematics, and IT.
Our table, represented by QLD Treasurer Vanessa and QLD Chair Michael Cowley, focused on what a physics degree actually opens up, from the expected paths in research and engineering, to less obvious ones in data science, defence, energy, consulting, and beyond. The conversations were genuinely encouraging. Students are thinking carefully about their futures, and many were surprised by the breadth of where physics can take them.
